Aon Empower Results

Pension Clicks

In this edition of Pension Clicks, we consider proposals for more regulatory powers, look at how trustees can work to improve investment performance and examine the long-term strategies schemes can employ when moving towards pension risk settlement.

More power for the Regulator?
The DWP has published a consultation on TPR powers, suggesting an expanded list of notifiable events, with an employer 'Declaration of Intent' required in some circumstances, new and bigger penalties for non-compliance and enhanced anti-avoidance powers. Our note summarises the proposals.

Achieving better investment performance: time to delegate?
Trustees’ time is a scarce resource that could be better focused on setting scheme strategy and driving member engagement, rather than making investment implementation decisions. In this paper, we discuss some of the challenges and what a solution might look like.

Pension risk settlement: looking at long-term strategies
In Chapter 2 of our annual Risk Settlement Review, we explore the long-term strategies that can help you to navigate through your de-risking journey. For expert insight into the topics covered, listen to the accompanying podcast.

DWP consults on trustees' investment duties
The DWP has published a consultation on 'clarifying and strengthening investment duties', proposing changes to the content of SIPs, a new requirement for trustees to prepare a "statement on members' views" and additional requirements for certain schemes to disclose information online. Our note summarises the proposals.
